LETTER FROM THE INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE PUERI CANTORES
To all Pueri Cantores throughout the world
Dear Pueri Cantores,
we are undergoing a situation unknown today in the modern world. A pandemic that affects us immensely and that worries us all. Almost overnight, we have had to change our way of living. Schools have closed, our cities and towns are empty and deserted, our choirs are no longer allowed to practice or to sing together. Even churches have been banned from allowing liturgical services. Our concerts and other events have been cancelled and our future projects and plans are being called into question. No-one at the present time is able to say whether it will be possible for our Congress in Florence to take place or not. The committee for international congresses will discuss the problem again next week.
In this extraordinary situation, we must keep our hopes alive through our singing and our prayers. Let your voices be heard, dear Pueri Cantores, in your homes and in your families, from your windows and on the social networks, so as to bring comfort to those who are ill or depressed by the situation. Never forget that we are Messengers of Peace and that, with God’s help, this world-wide epidemic Covid19 will be successful only by all of us working together to contain and defeat it.
May we remain united and strong, despite all the difficulties of this crisis. May we keep our trust in God’s guidance through the steadfastness of our faith.
Jean Henric, President FIPC
